As Summer 2016 Malga Piodo is opened!
At the foot of Mount Civetta, at 1,816 m altitude, rises Malga Pioda, quaint and cozy hut Dolomites managed, as of summer 2016, by some ski instructors of the Civetta ski school in Val di Zoldo.
The hut overlooking the Val di Zoldo, Palafavera above, and is easily accessible by chairlift, on foot or by MTB and from Val di Zoldo both from Alleghe. It is a must for those who rises towards the pond Coldai with the homonymous refuge, towards the top of Mount Civetta (reachable from here through the Normal Route or Via Ferrata Alleghesi) or for those who performs the entire lap of the massif Civetta -Moiazza.
Built of stone and wood, the hut has about 70 hectares of pasture and currently houses a herd sheep. A stop for a snack of cold cuts and cheeses, served on platters characteristic larch, it is a must!
How to get:
From Palafavera (Val di Zoldo): Malga Pioda is accessible via the convenient gravel road that climbs from Palafavera towards the Coldai and Civetta (CAI path 564) in approximately one hour, or with Palafavera-Pioda chairlift, which brings in share in a few minutes, and a brief rapprochement of about 10 minutes.
From Pezzè Plans (Alleghe) reached loc. Pezzè Plans by car or by cable car that climbs from Alleghe center is Malga Pioda, via a dirt road about an hour and a half walk. Alternatively you can reach the cable car Col dei Baldi and arrive at the hut in fifteen minutes.
